Rancho Las Posas and Simi records

Abstract Rancho Las Posas and Rancho Simi were both Mexican land grants that were owned by the de la Guerra y Noriega family of Santa Barbara. They cover large portions of present-day Camarillo, Moorpark, Simi Valley, the Oxnard Plains, and western Los Angeles County. Reardon family papers

Abstract The Reardon family moved from the Midwest around the turn of the century and is well known for establishing a mortuary in Ventura, as well as others in Oxnard and Simi Valley. Herbert Ricard papers

Herbert F. Ricard was a local historian and writer. He authored MVC quarterly Volume 17, Issue 2 "Place Names of Ventura County" (1972-73). This collection contains Ricard's research and notes, including his notes on place names within the county that he used to write the journal on the topic.

Saticoy Historical Society collection

This collection was donated by the Saticoy Historical Society, which was active between 1991 and 2014. The society collected items, histories, and artefacts related to the history of Saticoy. It includes both their administrative files and the items they collected in line with their mission. This includes manuscripts, books, photographs, personal histories, newspaper clippings, manuscripts, and ephemera related to the local history of Saticoy, as well as notable residents.

Saticoy Lionettes records

Saticoy Lionettes was a women’s auxiliary group of the Saticoy Lions Club, whose purpose was to promote sociability among its members as well as promote civic welfare. Saticoy Lionettes formed in 1964 and the collection includes the club’s organizational records and scrapbooks detailing their activities together and within the community.

E. M. Sheridan collection

Scope and Contents

This collection comprises the writings, mostly in the form of manuscripts and newspaper clippings, of E. M. (Edwin M.) Sheridan. The main focus of the writings are Ventura County history, including but not limited to, town histories, events, landmarks, legends, and personal histories.The majority of dated items are from the 1920s through the early 1930s, though dates can be found as late as the 1960s. Also included are bound notebooks of Sheridan's historical writings in 10 volumes.

This collection contains a wide variety of items collected by Fred Smith. Many items, including photographs, a scrapbook, and blueprints, either belonged to or refer to A.L. Hobson and family.
