Firefighting reference collection
This is an artificial, rapid response collection put together by staff while researching firefighting within the county following the Thomas Fire in 2017. Items include reports, plans, and other publications from the Ventura County Fire Department and other fire departments within the county. There are also some indexes for researchers interested in other resources on the topic.
Folklore collection
This collection was compiled by students in Charles Seeman's anthropology and music classes at Moorpark College. His students collected items and wrote reports on local folklore. Materials include reports and presentations, a cassette tape, donation forms, and a notebook.
Forum of the Arts papers
The Forum of the Arts was founded in 1961. The purpose of the Forum was to advance the interest, influcence and usefulness of the arts in the community by providing a creative outlet. The papers consist of undated reports, financial records, correspondence, notebooks, issues of the Forum Magazine and newspaper clippings.
William Friend papers
William "Bill" Friend was a former resident of Ojai and later Ventura. Friend was also a local historian. He passed away on April 14, 2011. This collection contains photographs, notes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, newsletters, reports, maps, periodicals, and research compiled by Friend, mostly related to Ojai and other local history, the forest service and forest management, wildfire management, and management of the Sespe watershed and Piru creek.

Hobson family papers
These papers were created by one branch of the Hobson family, early settlers in what is now known as Ventura County. Abram Lincoln Hobson (1861 – 1929) owned land throughout southern California and was an owner of Hobson Brothers Packing Company and Hobson City Markets. He was also actively involved in the local community. The documents include both business and personal correspondence and papers relating to his land holdings and business interests.
Edith Hobson Hoffman papers
Edith Hobson Hoffman (1890-1970) is a member of the Hobson family, early settlers of Ventura County who played a pivotal role in its development. Edith was dedicated to preserving the history of the county throughout her life. These papers contain records detailing the publication of The Letters of José Señán, forty-eight letters incorporated into a book which detail life at the San Buenaventura Mission from 1796 to 1823.
