Scope and Contents

The papers contain the notes, most on the education, of Elizabeth Hardison. Materials include composition books, school information booklets and several school programs, as well as the Anna Head School's 36th Annual Catalogue of 1923-1924, and the Mills College Commencement Week Program of 1927. Half of the compositions books are from English class. The majority of the items are from 1920-1923.

Biographical / Historical

Elizabeth Hardison was born on November 4, 1904, in Santa Paula to Guy Lyman Hardison (28) and Zetta Zoe Nordyke Hardison (31). She attended the Anna Head School in Berkeley, California, and was part of the senior class from 1922-1923. Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in June 1927 from Mills College in Oakland, California. Elizabeth married Donald Alexander Johansen in 1924. She lived in Berkeley, California, for about 10 years and Los Angeles in 1940. She died on August 17, 1976, in Santa Paula at the age of 71.
