Pasted to front cover: Day-Book kept by Detroy Brothers in 1875 ------ The Detroys were not the first butchers in this city. Peter Constantia ran a butcher-shop in Ventura in a little adobe which stood near the Hotel Pointsettia, formerly the Santa Clara Hotel in the west end, between Palm and Oak Streets.
