Abstract

The ledgers in this collection were donated to the museum over several years. Many belong to either the Superior Court of Ventura County or various offices and departments within the county's administration, as well as several private businesses or clubs. There are also a few still unidentified ledgers. The ledgers contain notes, financial accounts, or administrative records for a wide variety of agencies and businesses. Some ledgers may contain additional papers or correspondence.

Abstract The People v. Elizabeth Duncan trial was heard at the Superior Court of California in Ventura County regarding the murder of Olga Duncan by Augustine Baldonado and Luis Estrada Moya at the behest of Olga Duncan's mother-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Duncan. All three were tried for the murder, convicted, and in August 1959 executed for the murder. Duncan's motive is thought to have been jealousy over her son's marriage and the trial attracted national attention. Moya and Baldonado confessed, led...

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

This maps in this collection are mostly of Ventura County, but there are several other locations represented, including California, Oregon, and Arizona. The maps include aerial photographs, topographical maps, housing tract plans, and maps for roads, surveyors, rail lines, and equipment locations.
