Biographical / Historical

Frederick Augustus Sprague was elected as a justice of the peace in Ventura County in 1873. He homesteaded on Rancho Sespe and was Secretary of the Sespe Settlers League. He was sentenced to hang for the murder Thomas Wallace More in 1877. More disputed the settlers claim to the land due to his previous purchase of Rancho Sespe.
