Scope and Contents Note

The collection consists of four boxes of historical materials covering events in Ventura County, gathered by Mr. James F. Welch during his research from 1973 to 1979.

Boxes 1 and 2 contain materials on History of Lifesaving (local, regional and world). Boxes 3 and 4 contain materials on the History of San Buenaventura State Beach. A detailed inventory of contents appears inside each box.

This collection was donated by James F. Welch, former Lifeguard Supervisor at San Buenaventura State Beach, on November 8, 1996.
