Thomas R. Carr papers
Scope and Contents Note
The Thomas R. Carr collection contains photographs, newspaper clippings and historical highlights of Boy Scout activities, ceremonies and events throughout Ventura County. Further materials include photographic negatives, certificates, various notes pertaining to Boy Scouts activities within the region and a collection of Boy Scout comic strips ranging from the 1930s to the 1980s. This collection includes 7 scrapbooks of newspaper clippings on the Boy Scouts from 1921-1947. There is also a large photo album of scouting activities from 1921-1923. These large scrapbooks were given to Mr. Thomas R. Carr several years prior to 1994 when they were found in a warehouse that was being cleaned out by the organization. To these scrapbooks, Mr. Carr added two individual photo albums highlighting Troup 600, a brochure about the Boy Scout Jubilee, and a booklet of facts about Scouting in Ventura County, assembled by himself, titled "Historical Highlights." In 1994 he asked for and received permission from the Ventura County Boy Scout Council to deposit this collection in our Library.
