Scope and Contents
This series contains 15 envelopes that contain documents covering Bard’s arrival in Ventura in 1863 to his death in Ventura in 1902 and the ensuing settlement of his estate. This series also includes correspondence between Cephas L. Bard and his brother, Thomas R. Bard. The correspondence covers a variety of topics, ranging from family affairs, medical practices and procedures, the building of the Hueneme Pier, and the establishment of the Elizabeth Bard Memorial Hospital. The series also contains 60 telegrams dealing with the health of Clara Bard and Cephas Bard. There are also legal documents and ledgers documenting the finances of Bard's estate, including receipts, bank drafts, and Bard’s last will and testament.
